It's summertime...that means traveling, concerts and general fun!  All of that can be fairly expensive, so I have gathered together a list of some fun sweepstakes for you to enter!

What day is it?

I'm a little mixed up these week!  Rather than travel on the weekend I started my travel on Monday and it's really messed me up! 

The kids and I drove down to Tampa on Monday morning and then Tuesday morning I put my son on a plane to Maine to visit his Meme and Papa.  I'm going to miss him these next two weeks (*sniff* *sniff*) but I know that he's having a blast.  Apparently he was up playing on the shore with his cousins at 6 a.m. this morning!

My daughter was sad that her bubba left so I surprised her with a trip to Disney (Thank goodneess for those annual passes I won!).  She didn't know we were going until we got there.  At that time she proclaimed I was the best mom in the universe.  My favorite memory from the day came from when we were walking in Fantasyland.  Mary Poppins was walking past us (with her 5-piece band following her) and she took my daughter's hand in hers and asked her to dance!  My daughter didn't do a lot of dancing because she was completely awestruck, but when we went to lunch a little later all she could do was gush about all the dancing she did with Mary Poppins.  Too cute!

This summer we've been going to the movies a lot.  The kids and I go to the $1 summer movies at our local Carmike Theatres, I took my son to see Judy Moody (loved it!) and on Sunday the whole family went to see Cars 2.  There's nothing like movies in the summertime...so here our some movie sweepstakes for you to enter.

Winning Adventures: A Year of Disney

What I love about winning is that I’m able to provide my family with awesome opportunities or things that, as a Stay-At-Home Mom (SAHM), I would otherwise be unable to provide for them. The prize I won on March 18, 2011 was one of those opportunities – four annual passes to Disney World! This past weekend we activated those passes so I thought I’d share a little of my adventures with you!

The reason we chose this weekend to activate our passes was because in Hollywood Studios it was Star Wars Weekend. This would be my son’s third Star Wars weekend (and he’s only 7). When we arrived at Hollywood Studios to exchange our annual pass certificates for the actual passes we discovered that the four annual passes were for adults 10+. We have two kids under 10. After explaining we had the adult certificates for our kids because we won them, she exchanged them for the under 10. And then gave us a Disney gift card for the difference between the adult and child annual pass. I couldn’t believe it! It almost paid for all of our food at Disney for two days!

If you have a Star Wars fan in your family I would highly recommend this weekend (there’s actually four of these weekend – the last 2 weekends in May and the first 2 weekends in June). There are Storm Troopers patrolling all around the park, there is a huge Star Wars parade, tons of Star Wars merchandise (including this cupcake that looked better than it tasted!) and lots of Star Wars characters to meet.

My son loves visiting with most of the Star Wars characters…except the evil ones. He hides behind us when Darth Maul comes around. Of course when Darth Maul looks at me I’m trying to find someone to hide behind too. He’s creepy!!!

The weekend wasn’t any less magical for my daughter. I took her to Magic Kindgom on Sunday where she got to do her favorite thing – hang out with the princesses. For the first time we managed to get our pictures taken with Cinderella’s wicked step-mother and her step-daughters. They called her a princess and asked to be invited to her next big soiree!

As always, we visited with Cinderella, Belle and Aurora. I guess a lot of people don’t realize they are at the front of the park now because we saw them twice and we never waited longer than 15 minutes. It was so adorable because as we were leaving the room my daughter exclaimed she forgot to look at Aurora’s shoes. So Aurora showed them to her from across the room (my daughter loves shoes). Then my daughter got upset because she forgot to look at Belle and Cinderella’s shoes. Princess Aurora actually took her by the hand and they went to visit Belle and Cinderella again so she their shoes! What a magical moment!

It's officially summer for us today!
