A Week of Celebration!

As I mentioned on Wednesday, my baby boy turned 8 on Thursday!  I can't believe it, seems like only yesterday he was born.  I thought I'd share pictures with you of his birthday cake and cupcakes for school.
Next week is my daughter's 4th birthday, so expect some more pictures :)

Sweepstakes for your hump day!

Hey everyone!  I hope your week is going great.  Mine started rough (daughter was sick and lightening fried my Wii and HD in my TV and Blu Ray) but I'm trying to stay positive because tomorrow is my son's 8th birthday!  So as soon as I get off of here it's time to bake Pokeball cupcakes for his class and the big Pokeball cake he's going to share with his friends tomorrow night.

Kitchenaid Mixers, trips and Kidfresh frozen meals!

Hey everyone!  I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend.  On Sunday we let my (almost) 8 year old son pick out his halloween costume.  I was thinking he'd go for zombie (he's got a great zombie eye roll going that he's started to teach his friends how to do) or maybe another Star Wars character.  But nope.  He went for a ninja...totally unexpected!  And we actually found a Zombie Ninja costume, but he didn't want them.  He's a red ninja.  Hmmm...you just never know with kids!

Both of my kids are having birthday's in the next 2 weeks (my son is turning 8 and my daughter is turning 4 - where does time fly).  Of course, that means I'll be super busy.  So I'm giving you a heads up that for the next 2 weeks I will only be posting on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  But on those days I will try to post lots!  I may occasionally post single sweepstakes on my Facebook and Twitter page on the other days.  You can find me at http://www.facebook.com/winningforfun or http://www.twitter.com/winforfun

Is it too early to think about Christmas?

I couldn't believe my eyes when I walked into Wal-Mart the other day and saw twinking Christmas lights and holiday blow ups.  Ummm....what happened to Halloween?  I'm so not ready for Christmas in the stores!

However, if you want to win some prizes for Christmas and haven't started yet, it's time!  Because of sweepstakes and giveaways at least half of what my kids get for Christmas and their birthday are from sweepstakes wins.  An awesome money saver!  So let's start our lists...

Kidfresh Review & Giveaway - Approved By My Picky Eaters

My kids are well known by my friends and play group cohorts for their picky eating.  Both of them have long lists of things they won't eat and dinner at my house is a struggle.  When I was asked to review Kidfresh I was a little nervous.  Would my kids like them or would their pickiness prevail?  My son thinks frozen meals are cool but I rarely buy them because the kid frozen meals don't seem that healthy.  He was excited to try the new frozen Kidfresh meals.

This past Monday was the perfect time to try Kidfresh on my kids.  Monday is "Boy Scout Night" in my house.  We are always looking for something quick and easy to feed the kids since we don't have time to eat on that night as a family.  So I game the Kidfresh Wagon Wheels Mac+Cheese to my son and the Kidfresh Spaghetti Loops Bolognese to my daughter.

Hallelujah!  They ate it!  My son thought the Mac+Cheese was "AWESOME!"  I had to keep him from licking the bowl.  Considering the only Mac and Cheese he ate prior to this was in the blue box, I thought thie was a pretty resounding endorsement.  My daughter said she liked it but only ate about five bites.  This may sounds not so great, but from my daugher it's wonderful!  If she didn't like it she would have touched her tongue to it and declare it yucky.  So the kids review:  Kidfresh is awesome!

Kidfresh kid

So why would I love Kidfresh?  Simple!  Kidfresh meals are prepared with hidden veggies, providing up to 33% of a child's daily needs.  They are made with 100% natural ingredients and no artificial colors, flavors or presrvatives.  Pretty awesome, huh?  My kids had absoleutely NO idea!  Considering they are so picky, it's necessary for me to hide the good stuff in the food for them.

In addition to the two meals I metioned above Kidfresh also makes Totally Twisted Pasta+Meatballs, Muy Cheesy Quessadillas, Rainbow Rice+Chicken and Easy Cheese Ravioli.  Check out their website for more information on their produts, coupons and more.  You can find Kidfresh in most Publix stores in Florida and Georgia, along with a variety of other grocery stores.  To check if your store carries them, check HERE.

I know I've said it before, but TGIF...

Who's excited for the weekend?!?!?! Me!  Me! Me!  Yes, I am a stay-at-home mom so it's not like I "get off work" on Friday.  But it's so nice to have my hubby and son with me and my daughter all weekend.  This weekend we don't have much planned again.  My hubby insists he plans to spend all day Saturday watching football.  I'm in agreement if we can go to Disney on Sunday ;)

Hero
This morning I had a nice playdate at my house with a lot of my daughter's friends...and free Kashi Peanuty Dark Chocolate Layer Granola Bars!  These are a great on-the-go snack you may want to try.  I was selected by through the Mom Ambassadors program.  The actually sent me about 25 bars, a box of cereal and ceral bars.  Sweet!  Check out the Mom Ambassadors program HERE.

How about some sweepstakes before we start the weekend?

A Weird Wednesday

This morning I dropped my son off at school at 8:20...and have to pick him up at 11:45.  Because it's a half-day at school.  On a Wednesday!  How does that make sense?  Could they not wait until Friday for a half-day?  Well, enough of my rants.  Let's get down to some sweepstakes.

Just My Opinion: September 11

Photo from Jaguars.com

September 11, 2001 is one of those days.  Everyone remembers that day and exactly what happened.  Where were you on September 11?  Here's what I remember:

I was driving into work that morning and I remember seeing a Pepsi truck turning right.  He'd forgotten to latch the side of his truck down and soda bottles flew all over the road.  I thought That guy is having a bad day!  A half hour later I was sitting in a Economic Restructuring Committee Meeting taking place at the Grits Mill Cafe in Downtown Valdosta. (The Grits Mill Cafe is no longer there - but had the best Chicken Divan!).  The owner, Melanie, came into the main part of the restaurant and was crying because a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center.  It's a fluke.  I thought  Something was screwed up with the plane and it was an accident.  But shortly after another plane flew into the other building at the World Trade Center and we knew it was not an accident.  We left the Grits Mill Cafe then, the meeting no longer holding any importance, and went back to City Hall to find out what was going on.  I don't think we accomplished another thing that day.  I do remember thinking later that same day that the guy who drove the Pepsi truck didn't really have that bad of a day.

I did not have a plan to do something special for the 10 year "anniversary" for the World Trade Center attack (I hate the word anniversary, because I usually think of happiness with anniversaries).  But as it happens, I won a couple of tickets to the Jacksonville Jaguars season opener from WOKV so my husband and I went.  The moment we walked into the stadium we were handed American flags.  They had a beautiful tribute before the game as they sang the Star Spangled Banner, it brought tears to my eyes.  A lot of people I was sitting around were constantly taking pictures and videos of it.  I would have taken pictures myself, but sometimes to get the full emotion of something I feel you need to put down the camera (or phone) and just feel it.  So that's what I did today.

The day was definitely patriotic with a singing of God Bless America at half time, a service member surprising his family with his return from over seas during the game and more.  The patriotism seemed high, but one thing disapointed me.  As I was leaving the stadium I noticed that several people had left their American flags under their seats or in their drink cups.  I thought that was kind of sad.  However, I was proud of the gentleman in front of me.  He was picking up all the flags on the ground around him as he walked.  His son asked him why.  He told him that he did not want to see the American flag walked on.

TGIF!!!

I hope everyone is having a great day - it's FRIDAY!!!!!!  It's a little smoky here from some fires happening a couple of counties over, but since my 3 yo is exahusted anyway it doesn't bother me too much that we aren't going outside to play.  I'm very excited because tomorrow we're going to have pictures of the family done by Danielle Cordeau Photography!  If you're in the Jacksonville, FL area you should definetly check her out.  She's running some awesome specials right now...up to 75% off!!  You can also go to Danielle's Facebook page.  If you book a session please let me know Melissa M. sent you!

I will be continuing to post tips on entering sweepstakes.  I apologize for not posting many this week, but I'm still a bit behind after a long weekend.  In the meantime, here are some sweepstakes for you to enter:

New York, Vegas, the Big Green Egg and more!

I'm typically in bed by now, but I had so much fun at my Improv class tonight that I'm too wired.  I literally cried I laughed so hard!  If you're in the Jacksonville, FL area check out the Improv Effect at http://www.improveffect.com/  Whether you are quiet or loud, their beginning improv classes are for every one!  I was nervous the first time I went but now I look forward to my Wednesday night improv classes!  They also offer some Saturday classes and corporate training.

So, here I am awake.  And very behind on posting sweepstakes.  So here you go!

Tip #1: Have a Seperate E-Mail Address

I will be doing a series of tips to help all of my readers.  If you have questions, please feel free to ask them.  I can't promise you that I'll have the answers but I'll definetly try!

Tip #1:  Have a seperate e-mail address for entering sweepstakes

If you are going to enter sweepstakes and contests you should really have a seperate e-mail address specifially for this purpose.  This will reduce the amount of spam in your personal e-mail account and not get in the way of e-mails from friends and family.  It is easy to get a free e-mail account through hotmailgoogle or yahoo.

Be sure to check this account daily because many contests and sweepstakes require you to reply within 24-48 hours in order to claim your prize.  If it's a local prize they may require you to reply sooner that that (I've won baseball tickets at noon one day for a game at 7 p.m. that same night!)

Racing, football, cash and more!

I Predict...I'll have no idea what day it is all week!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Labor Day weekend!  I don't know about anybody else but I can already tell that I'm not going to know what day it is the entire week.  Hopefully I won't miss anything important...

I'm so excited that I've gained so many new fans!  Originally I started this blog to let my friends, who are also stay-at-home moms, know about various sweepstakes so they could have the little extras in life.  I never dreamed I'd get 1,200 hits a month on this blog!  Thanks to everyone!  Because I have so many new fans I will be posting tips during the next week or so about entering sweepstakes, so be sure to be on the lookout for them.  In the meantime, here are some sweepstakes for you to enter.

Have a fun and safe weekend!

It's almost the start of Labor Day Weekend - but I'm not planning on laboring!  We actually have so many plans I'm not sure we're going to be able to do them all.  So, here are your sweepstakes for the weekend.  Unless I have insomnia, I probably won't be back on the computer again until Tuesday!  If you haven't already done so, don't forget to enter my Paper Corterie Giveaway here.   Have a safe and fun weekend!

Winning Adventures: Martha Stewart and the Jacksonville Jaguars

Last week I won a digital camera from Living in the Family Room, a Martha Stewart blog.  If you're thinking frilly and fru-fru - you're wrong!  I recieved the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3.  This kick-butt camera is water-proof, freeze-proof, has GPS, has a compass and much more!  A couple of days after I recieved the camera it rained.  So I used that an excuse to try it out while the kids played - I loved having the ability to take the camera out in the rain!  I know that will also come in handy when I ride the different water rides at Disney.

A couple of days later I found out I had another opportunity to try out my camera - during a Jacksonville Jaguars pre-season game!  I won 4 tickets to the game from our local Classic Rock 94.1, so I took the whole family.  This was the first NFL Football game for my baby girl (she went to a Florida Gator game during Tebow's last year).  As we walked to the stadium we ran into a photographer who was apparently done shooting whatever he was shooting in the stadium.  They give those who are working the game drink vouchers and he hadn't used his so he passed it on to us.  Score!  This game is getting cheaper and cheaper, just how I like it!

I was very proud of my daughter - for a 3 year old she really paid a lot of attention to the game!  She sat still (of course, she was tired) and asked great questions.  My son's favorite part was when we left the game and asked one of the rickshaw to take us back to the car.  Forgot to get a picture of that.  We don't usually waste the money on those but I figured we had won the tickets and gotten a free drink - plus my daughter did battle with the pavement on the way to the game and her knees and elbows were all scrapped up.
